Bad Elmo...
Check out our big girl in her big Elmo chair (on loan from her buddy Jack). She loves all things Elmo, me not so much....
Elmo and i have a rocky relationship. Scarli’s dear Aunt Dee gave her an Elmo doll that she just adores! She loves to shake him and to gnaw on his eyes. I, on the other hand, am not so fond of the creepy little guy. First of all he’s a chatter box, second he finds his way into places that he just shouldn’t be in. The other morning I got up and headed to the gym. Still dark outside, I crawled in my car, pulled out of the drive way and as I drove through the darkest part of the street I heard this faint laughter coming from somewhere in my car. If it hadn’t been for my seatbelt I would have jumped out of my skin. It took me a very long, scary, minute to figure out what was happening and where it was coming from. I thought for sure I was in a horror movie. Elmo now travels in the glove compartment when Scarli’s not in the car. I can still hear him laugh from time to time but if I turn up the music loud enough it drowns him out. After talking to some friends I have yet to find an adult that's ok with being in a dark car/room with him alone. And Elmo, to answer your question...no, I don't want to be your friend. You almost made a grown woman cry.

Where is your nose?
The rate she is learning things blows my mind…I asked her the other day where her nose was and she pointed to her nose. I was shocked! I yelled for Jason to come over and I asked her again…she pointed again. I began to rant on enthusiastically on how she was brilliant and so advanced. It was unbelievable. Jason again asked her where her nose was, she pointed again. He asked her where her eyes were, she pointed to her nose. Hmm, I thought…that’s ok, they are very close. He said “Scarlett where’s your mouth?" She pointed to her nose. “where are your feet?” She pointed to…yes, her nose. Darn cute nose it is.

Only wet babies like change...
So they say...I wasn't sure even my baby, wet or dry, was appreciating her transition into the big kid classroom. Cots, cups, spoons and lots of tears, but we're getting past that now. 2 months in and a lot less tears. The key to no tears…drop off the little one with a cup of blueberries. Doesn't starting the day with blueberries make everyone’s day a little better?

Ice cream, Tuna fish and Cherries…oh my.
Scarlett tried ice cream, tuna fish and cherries for the first time this week. All received Scarlett’s stamp of approval, especially the cherries. She was so pleased with the cherries my mom even got a few giggles of joy as she ate them. It was one of those moments I wish I had my camera…there was cherry juice running down her chin and a big smile on her face. There is definitely a lot of Michigan in this child.
Since I didn’t have a picture of the cherry eating, I’m substituting…this is one of my faves.

GOOOOOOALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!
A few weeks ago we went to a soccer game at the GA dome. Jason got front row tickets. We were right off the sideline behind the AC Milan team. So close we could smell them…surprisingly not as gross as it sounds. The first picture is Guch Onyewu, he’s the American that’s awesome. I had no idea who he was. The last picture is right after they scored.

Baby bird becomes a busy bee...
Little Scarlett started her 2 week transition at daycare from a "baby bird" to a "busy bee" this week. Her first week of transition into the busy bee classroom went well. Today she slept on a cot for the first time...no more cribs...oh heartache! I'm not sure who this is harder on SKG or me. Her first progress report earlier in the week said she was happy, cooperative and she found a stuffed bear in the classroom that she carried around for the time she was there. I can't believe how much she has changed in just the last month...she's just perfection.
She loves to play in the yard at night...here are a few pictures. I love the last two...I can almost hear her giggling when I look at them.

Trip to Lake Sinclair
We visited Lake Sinclair this weekend with Cam and Trina…w/ 2 dogs and a one year old in tow. The first time we went 4 years ago our biggest concern was if our rafts had drink holders. In the past there were additional trips to the local Walmart for extra ice, beer, mixers. This year the trip was for a baby gate… oh how times have changed. Although the lake isn’t very clear, it was warm so SKG could hang out for a while. She enjoyed floating with Dada, but I think she enjoyed drinking the water even more. There was no way she was getting dehydrated this trip...Scarlett even christened the dock. All in all it was a very successful first trip to the lake for SKG and Nola.

1 year DR appointment & Stone Mountain Lasershow
Saturday we headed to Stone Mountain park for the laser light show. It’s a great show with fireworks and music. The place was jammed and all SKG wanted to do was walk around. We found a spot on the lower lawn where she was able to explore and these 2 nice girls were playing soccer and kicked the ball to her… she picked it up and took off with it. She settled down once the sun went down and she seemed to like the show fireworks and all.

Dinner out...
SKG and I are heading to dinner tonight with my family and Deanna's family. I know we are heading into that age where it's getting increasingly difficult to go to dinner w/ her. I hope that this experience is better than the one we had last week...
We took Scarlett to dinner last week, we had a gift cards that needed to use it by the end of June…it was an adventure/nightmare. We made many mistakes. I asked for a kids menu, they didn’t have one…our first mistake. Anyplace that does not have a kids menu, doesn’t want your kid there...makes sense. They said they had "kid friendly" items...osco busco perhaps?
We were on constant defense trying to anticipate what she was going to throw, pull or eat next. At one point I reached down to get the napkin, looked back up and she had the knife in her hand and was swinging it around…almost took out my eye…that was totally my fault. Jason put blueberries on a bread plate for her and I told him if he was going to give her a plate it was his responsibility to watch it…well he looked away and sure enough she threw it down and it shattered everywhere. Totally his fault. We also ran out of blueberries...as mentioned below she's a freak for the blues. She was pretty satisfied up until that point, once the blues were gone...well, i think that's when the plate hit the floor...our version of "the shit hitting the fan." Now we always bring 24 hours worth of blueberries with us wherever we go.
Surprisingly there were several families in the place doing the same thing we were…trying to have dinner but really just desperately entertaining their kids so they won’t have a meltdown. One 3 year old came over and to say "hi" and the mom said she “escaped” from their table. The girl was sweet except she took Scarlett’s face in her hands and gave her a big ol' smacker on the lips…OMG. We took her to the same restaurant last year but she was only a few weeks old and it was so easy so we thought sure we can do this again… we’re fools. So we have this to look forward to for the next couple of years?
SKG ended up eating part of my "kid friendly" short rib ravioli w/ browned butter sauce. Sounded and tasted much better than anything a kid's menu could offer anyway.
